Except for the navy coal depot at Bandjermasin, Dutch East Indies provided with Teweh (Borneo) coal under a contract for a year, were the other coal depots provided with Ombilin and Poeloe-Laoet coal or even Cardiff and American coal. Laoet coal was mainly used for the eastern depots. In some depots was Cardiff coal stored and due to the political situation (1) was Cardiff coal also stored on other points divided over the Archipelago. The coal depot at Merauke which already for a long time was no longer provided was closed. The contract with the Naamlooze Vennootschap “Zeehaven en Kolenstation Sabang” for the delivery of coal at Sabang was with one year lengthened.
